Where Should I Get My Sneakers Cleaned in Toronto?

Did you know that whipped cream has been around since the 16th century and was originally called, “milk snow?” Dolloped on hot chocolate or on top of a piece of cake, whipped cream continues to be enjoyed by dessert lovers during the holiday season. Though imitation whipped cream products like Cool Whip have risen to popularity, we’re still die hard fans for the good, ole fashion original. Here’s how to remove whipped cream stains from your clothes and area rugs.

How to Remove Whipped Cream Stains from Your Clothes

Tip: Always check your garment’s care label before cleaning. Though you can attempt to spot treat your dry clean only garments, leave the actual cleaning process to the professionals.

In the dry cleaning world, whipped cream is classified as a protein stain which means it needs to be tackled as soon as possible. First, blot or sponge the whipped cream stain to soak up excess liquid. Then, turn your garment inside out and flush it under cold running water.

Tip: Do not run the stain under warm or hot water – it will only set the stain further into the fabric.

Next, apply an at home stain removal treatment to the affected area. After following the kit’s instructions, check to see if the stain has been removed. If it has, wash your garment as usual. If not, it’s time to visit the dry cleaner!

How to Remove Whipped Cream from Your Area Rug

When it comes to cleaning up milk stains from your carpet or area rug, speed is of the essence.

Tip: If you spill whipped cream on an artisanal or silk rug, blot up as much of the stain as possible and then schedule an area rug cleaning pick up with Gibson’s.

After you’ve blotted the whipped cream stain from your area rug, soak and wring out a clean cloth or sponge and gently dab the stain. As you blot the area, continue to dry the moisture up with a dry paper towel. Now it’s time to treat the stain. Mix together one tablespoon of dish soap with two cups of warm water. Dip a fresh cloth into the solution and begin to dab the stain working your way from the center of the stain to the outer edges. Finally, rinse the stained area with water. Once your area rug has air dried, give it a quick vacuum.

If left untreated, whipped cream or milk stains can cause lasting damage, so it’s best to seek professional help if you have any reservations.
