Our Favourite Canadian Resale & Vintage Stores

Going across country this summer? Don't miss these awesome shops!

  1. Nouveau Riche Vintage - Toronto, Ontario

Located in the Junction Triangle, Nouveau Riche is a favorite vintage studio and archive amongst Toronto’s style-savvy. Owner and vintage purveyor Andrea LaLonde offers shop-by-appointment fittings, open hours on select dates, and rents select pieces from her collection for special events (like the Junos). The studio boutique recently expanded their e-commerce site to make it easier to purchase original vintage pieces with the click of a button. Packages are shipped and delivered within 2 to 5 days via Canada Post. Inquire at shop.nouveauriche@gmail.com

2. Empire Exchange - Montreal, Quebec

Montreal is home to some of the country’s best vintage and resale boutiques, but Empire Exchange is a must-see. The store is the first of its kind in the city, operating as a clothing exchange, and has been serving the hip Mile End community since 2013. Locals can bring in clothing, footwear, and jewelry, and the EE team will swap the item with cash or store credit. The boutique’s also expanded into selling Canadian-made goods like stationery, candles, home decor, and printed tote and tees, making it a great place to find a last-minute gift. Luckily if you’re out of town, Empire Exchange also hosts a user-friendly webshop. Check it out here.

3. Duchess and Duke - Victoria, British Columbia

West-coast, best coast? Agree or disagree, Vancouver and Victoria are home to some wonderful vintage and resale shops. One of our favourites is Duchess and Duke, a thoughtfully curated shop in the heart of Victoria’s design district. Owner Kasia Waissman’s mission is to provide quality garments at affordable prices inspired by her mother’s eye for fashion. The store sells men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, and footwear, some items dating back to the 1940s. Don’t worry; many of the store’s pieces are also more current (the 90s). After visiting, don’t forget to go to the historic Fan Tan alley, which is only three minutes away!

4. Darling Vintage-Ottawa Ontario

Are you heading to Canada’s national capital this summer? You’ll need to put Darling Vintage on your list. Owner Jamie McLeod has curated a 100% recycled clothing and accessories boutique in Ottawa’s Centretown on Somerset Street. With a punchy Instagram account, the boutique sells pieces that span all price points and even wedding dresses. The store also boasts retro furniture and homeware!

5. Stoxx Vintage-Vancouver BC

Stoxx Vintage is worth a trip if you venture to the “Hollywood of the North” this summer. This “treasure trove” is tucked inside KingsGate Mall, where you’ll be able to find graphic tees to add to any casual outfits. This black-owned business launched “Stoxxified Community,” a community of local entrepreneurs, artists, and leaders, with the goal to highlight, empower, and encourage their community. If you can’t make it out west, Stoxx has an impressive e-commerce site and ship anywhere nation wide.
